You can combine more than one filter to create more granular segments, such as registered for a campaign and purchased a ticket. The AND & OR options determine how two or more filters should be combined.
To switch between AND & OR
- When you apply more than one filter the AND logic will automatically populate
- Click the AND to switch to OR logic and vice versa
AND Logic
The AND option will show contacts that meet the criteria for all filters selected. For example, to identify contacts that registered for a campaign AND purchased a ticket, ensure the AND option is selected. The number of contacts in this dataset will be less than those using OR logic.
OR Logic
The OR option will show contacts that meet the criteria for any filters selected. For example, to identify contacts that registered for a campaign OR purchased a ticket, ensure the OR option is selected. The number of contacts in this dataset will be more than those using AND logic.
How to create and combine an 'AND' and 'OR' filter
Firstly, create a segment in the Audience Menu:
- Click Add filter
- Select the tag
- Click Add filter
- Select the tag
- Change the AND and OR by clicking on it
- Click Save segment
Now you can add a tag to the segment you created:
- Click Filter > Add Filter
- Select the tag
- Click Add filter
- Select the segment
- Change the AND and OR
- Click Apply filter
- Click Save segment
