Troubleshooting TikTok Segment Syncing Issues

Modified on Thu, 5 Dec at 9:38 AM

If your TikTok account is connected to your Audience Republic account and you've set up segments, but they aren't syncing to your TikTok account, the issue could be related to the permissions level of your TikTok account. TikTok may show an error or experience delays in processing due to permissions or specific audience settings.

Before you get started

Troubleshooting TikTok segment syncing issues

Here are some common causes and solutions:

1. Check Required Permission Level: Ensure that your TikTok Ad account has the necessary permissions to connect with Audience Republic. You need Admin or Advertiser permissions to establish and maintain the connection.

  • Admin: Full access to account settings, including integrations.
  • Advertiser: Can manage ads and segments, but with limited access to account settings.
  • To verify and adjust permissions, log in to your TikTok Ad Manager account and review the user roles and permissions settings. More information can be found in TikTok’s Account Permissions Guide.

2. Verify Audience Size

  • Minimum Audience Size: TikTok requires a minimum audience size of 100 users for segments to sync successfully. If your audience size is below this threshold, the segment will not be eligible for syncing.

3. Verify Data formatting Requirements:

  • Ensure that the audience data complies with TikTok’s formatting standards:
    • File Format: CSV or Excel (.xls/.xlsx).
    • Column Headers: Must include relevant identifiers such as User ID, Email Address, or Phone Number.
    • Data Accuracy: Ensure that all data fields are correctly filled and formatted according to TikTok’s requirements.
  • For more details on data formatting, refer to TikTok’s data upload guidelines.

4. Data Matching Delays

Sometimes TikTok can take longer to process and match segment data, especially if there are inconsistencies in your audience data (e.g., incorrect or outdated contact information). Allow some time for the sync to complete, especially for larger audiences.

5. Check TikTok API Status

6. Check Connection Settings

  • Integration Configuration: Ensure that your TikTok Ad account is correctly configured in Audience Republic. Double-check API credentials and connection settings.

  • Refresh Connection: Sometimes, refreshing or re-establishing the connection can resolve syncing issues.

7. Ad Account Restrictions

Restrictions on your TikTok Ad account, such as billing issues or compliance restrictions, can prevent audience segments from syncing. Check your TikTok Ad account for any restrictions and resolve them to continue syncing.

8. Update the TikTok App

Ensure you're using the latest version of the TikTok app. Updates often contain bug fixes and improvements that may resolve syncing issues.

By verifying these factors, you can help resolve syncing issues with TikTok segments in your Audience Republic account.
