Sometimes you may encounter errors during the import process. In this article, we will show you how to fix errors and bulk delete.
Before you get started
- Make sure you have a CSV file already uploaded to start the import process.
How to bulk delete errors
- Click the error icon at the top so only the error rows are showing
- Select the top one so there is a blue ring around it
- Scroll to the number row and whilst pressing shift-click again
- This is now bulk-selected so when you press delete or backspace they will all be deleted
How to remove invalid values in a column
- Click on the invalid column that's highlighted in red
- Select 'more actions'
- Click 'delete all invalid values'
- All of the invalid values in that specific column will be deleted:
Possible errors you may encounter
Invalid mobile numbers
When importing Mobile numbers, you must ensure all include a country code and are valid phone numbers, otherwise, the contacts with invalid mobile numbers won't be included in the import.
- Export the errors as CSV
OR:
- Import the clean CSV file
- After, tidy the invalid mobile numbers (in the Exported file) - HERE on how to reformat mobile numbers
- Then, import the tidied CSV file
Missing State and/or country
- When importing 'State', the correct 'Country' data must be included in the CSV file too otherwise the data won't be recognized - refer to import data formatting requirements HERE
Date format
Date format is not your preferred format, it is the format of your file's data (International or US format)
Blank rows in the Email address column
- Ensure you have deleted all blank rows in the Email address column before importing, otherwise, the import will not work
Using the Find & Replace tool
If you need to make changes to a large number of cells, you can use the Find & Replace tool. This tool allows you to search for specific text (or a blank row) and replace it with something else.
"Error" when Importing
- Ensure your Custom Fields do not include fields that already exist in the import fields, such as State, Country, City, and Mobile number, as this will cause an error when importing
Example:
Error caused by this Custom Field, "state"
