Personalizing an SMS message (using dynamic tags) can increase engagement and improve the overall customer experience.
How to personalize an SMS message
- Navigate to the Messaging menu
- Choose the Messages tab
- Click New Message and choose SMS, or edit an SMS draft
- In the Message text box, compose your message.
- Click Insert dynamic tag
- Click Add dynamic tags
- Click Download this CSV file, to export a file containing the list of recipients for this message. Note that this exact file must be used.
- To add a custom tag, like a unique code or unique URL, add and label a new column in the CSV file, then add the values for each contact. You can add multiple columns with values.
- Save the file once populated.
- Drag and drop the saved file into the drop box, or click to browse and upload the file from your saved location.
- Click Import fields
- You can now add the fields to your message. Place your cursor in the spot where you would like to add the personalization field.
- Click Insert dynamic tag then choose the field(s)
- When using dynamic tags, you should always add fallback values to be used if the value for that field is blank for any recipient.
How to test your dynamic tags
- Go to Step 3: Summary in the email.
- On the right-hand side, showing the mobile preview, click preview dynamic tags and an example will be shown of what the tags will look like:
