Before you get started
- Make sure you have a Cloudflare account and your domain is hosted by Cloudflare
- Check out where your domain is hosted on here
How to install DNS records on Cloudflare
Log in to your Cloudflare Account: Go to Cloudflare's website.
- Select Your Domain: From the dashboard, select the domain for which you want to install DNS records.
- Go to DNS Settings: In the domain dashboard, click on the DNS tab at the top of the page. This will take you to the DNS management panel.
- Add a DNS Record: Click on the Add Record button.
A form will appear with the following fields: - Type: Choose the type of DNS record (CNAME, TXT).
- Name: Enter the name (subdomain) of the record (e.g., “www” for www.yourdomain.com).
- Value: Enter the value of the record (e.g., the IP address for an A record or the target domain for a CNAME).
- TTL: Select the TTL (Time To Live), usually set to “Auto” or “1 hour.”
Proxy Status: Enable or disable Cloudflare’s proxy (orange cloud icon). If the proxy is disabled, Cloudflare only handles DNS without its security/performance features.
- Save the Record: After entering the required details, click Save.
- Verify DNS Record Propagation: DNS changes can take some time to propagate. You can use tools like DNS Checker to verify that the DNS records are updated globally.
Cloudflare Support
If your DNS records are correctly installed, although they're still not being verified, your next step would be to contact their Support team.
- The Cloudflare Support Portal: Log in to your Cloudflare account and submit a request ticket through their support center
