Testing your Automation

Modified on Thu, 8 Aug at 9:46 AM

Testing and perfecting your automated emails is crucial to ensure that your customers receive the right message. By testing in advance, you can guarantee that your emails are professional and error-free.

Before you get started

  • Make sure you have created an automation
  • Please note that the delivery time of automation emails is not under our control and is subject to the system's workload at the time of processing and sending.
  • Please ensure that the email address you use for testing the automation is not already subscribed to the list. If it is already on the list, you will not receive the email.

How to Preview your Automated Email

  • Drag and drop the Send Email action into the Automation
  • After creating the Automated Email, click "Preview" to see how it will appear when sent.

  • To preview the different formats, please click on "Desktop" and "Mobile"

Shareable Preview link

You can create preview links to easily share automation email designs with your team before enabling the automation.

  • Click on the Message
  • In the sidebar, click Preview

  • Copy the Shareable Preview Link and share it with your team

How to test your automated emails within an Automation

Testing your email will allow you to better test your emails within automations before you turn them on.

  • Click on the "Send a test" button to send a test email

  • Please insert the email address where you would like to receive the test email.

  • After, it will confirm a test email has been sent to the email address

  • Click Done

Didn't receive the automation email?
There could be a few factors at play:
  1. Already Subscribed: Your email address might already be subscribed to the list. If that's the case, the automation won't trigger a new email. To resolve this, please use an email address that isn’t already on the list for testing.
  2. Spam/Junk Folder: The email may have been filtered into your spam or junk folder. Please check those folders to see if the email was delivered there.
  3. Automation Setup: There might be an issue with the automation setup.
  4. Email Sending Delays: Sometimes, there can be a delay in email delivery due to server processing times. It's worth waiting a little while to see if the email comes through.
  5. Incorrect Email Address: Double-check that the email address used in the form submission is correct and doesn't contain any typos.

How to test your automation with the trigger "purchased ticket to - any event"

To test this type of automation, your team can take the following steps:
  1. Create a Test Event: Set up a small test event in your Audience Republic account with a ticket type that mirrors your main event.
  2. Test Purchase: Make a test ticket purchase for this event after the automation is active. Use an email address that isn’t already associated with the automation to ensure it triggers.
  3. Check Timing: After making the test purchase, monitor the automation to see if the email is sent out after the 2-hour delay.
  4. Review Results: Confirm that the email was received and that the automation triggered correctly for the test event and ticket type.
